Historicial Development: Mark Wiess, S. B. Bacon, and James F. Ward organized in March 1882 a planing mill company and began operations immediately. In September of that year they sold their business to the Beaumont Planing Mill Company, which added more equipment. Financially, the mill was a flop; by June 1884, the company was in receivership and no further mention of it has been found. Either one of the larger mills bought its equipment or its assets were auctioned to satisfy the company's creditors.
