Historicial Development: | The American Lumberman announced in October 1900 that the firm of Kaiser & Schmidt was building a sawmill at La Porte. Southern Industrial and Lumber Review noted that a new dry kiln had just been finished at the Kaiser & Schmidt sawmill at La Porte. The sawmill cut extensively for the export trade. Kaiser & Schmidt may have been bought out before 1905 by the La Porte Lumber Company. It was not listed in the 1905 edition of the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association.
