Historicial Development: | The Letterhead of the Oliver Bass Lumber Company, dated December 9, 1969, stated that its product was “quality kiln dried yellow pine lumber.” Production grew from ten million board feet in 1971 to twelve million 1973. By then the company was employing about fifty workers. It did and contracted logging. In 1993, the plant was producing from loblolly pine, long leaf pine, and shortleaf pine a variety of select and common boards, dry dimension, timbers, siding. Complimenting the sawmill operation was a planing mill and dry kilns. |
