Historicial Development: The Southern Industrial and Lumber Review reported in September, 1906, that J. M. Jordan was cutting 10,000 feet of lumber daily at Lovelady. It is not certain if this is the same John Jordan who was reported to have a sawmill the year before at Creek. Bill of Sale records from Houston County reveal that J. M. Jordan had a second-hand sawmill outfit that he sold to G. A. Delaney in 1900. In 1905, Jordan contracted with J. C. Hill Lumber Company of Houston to provide it the cut of both his sawmill and planing mill, one and a half miles west of Lovelady, for one year.
