Historicial Development: | Houston County records note that R. M. Brooks had a shingle mill and a sawmill at Crockett in 1907. In July of that year, Brooks contracted with Bob D. Rains to move his sawmill to Rains' place, about nine miles to the southeast of Crockett. Rains would cut and haul logs to the mill, paying one-half of the expenses, and would receive a one-half share of the mills' profits. |
