Historicial Development: | Cody Station, named after Buffalo Bill Cody, according to F. E. Williams, had a sawmill near the International & Great Northern Railroad tracks until 1912. A small community and post office developed around the sawmill. Its ownership may have been the Gruner Lumber Company, but a search of the county records reveals no land transactions by anyone named Cody, Gruner, or the Gruner Lumber Company. The company had a commissary and a wooden-rail, mule-powered company tram, over which logs were hauled. Logging was done with a crosscut saw. When timber was cut out, the sawmill was dismantled and moved to Fetzer. |
