Historicial Development: W. A. Millikien operated a sawmill at New Waverly in 1925. He defaulted on his note to the First National Bank of Huntsville. T. A. Millikien, acting as trustee, sold the mill for $200 at the courthouse on December 1, 1925 to the highest bid. Equipment included the sawmill with its carriage and set work, an 8-wheel wagon, one 42-inch by 14-ft steam boiler, one two-saw trimmer, an edger, and a steam engine.
