Historicial Development: Walker County records note that R. O. Driscoll, Jr., was sawmilling southwest of Huntsville in 1908, near the current-day Highway 30. Driscoll mortgaged nine oxen, three hundred acres of pine stumpage of the Cornelius G. Hoyt survey, his sawmill and its steam machinery, and a “planer” mill.
