Historicial Development: | M. Robbins, enumerated, in the 1870 Census, probably located his sawmill near Huntsville, before the coming of the railroad. This sawmill operation, according to the 1870 Census Products of Industry Schedule, was d to be a capital investment of $2,000. Investments in raw materials included $500 in pine logs and $350 in files, oil, etc. Four men were paid $1,000 for six months of operations. The sawmill manufactured 200,000 feet of lumber valued at $4,500. |
