Historicial Development: The Kelley & Pace sawmill was listed in Enumeration District 157 for Walker County in the 1880 Census. The Census recorded the d capital value of the facility at $8,500. Kelley & Pace employed thirty men at peak production and twenty-five normally. They were paid $1.25 to $1.50 daily for ten-hour shifts during the winter and eleven-hour shifts in the summer.
