Historicial Development: | S. Brown, according to The Lumberman's Directory of Saw Mills, Shingle Mills and Other Wood Working Factories in the Northwest, South and Southwest, was operating a sawmill in 1880 next to the tracks of the International & Great Northern at New Waverly. W. T. Block has located a record in the county's chattel mortgage registers that reveal the Traylors, after selling their sawmill in 1879, had joined with S. Brown. The Traylors and Brown mortgaged the sawmill steam machinery in January, 1881. |
