Historicial Development: | Fouke, noted "This Everlasting Sand Bed": Cultural Resources Investigations at the Texas Big Sandy Project, Wood and Upshur Counties, Texas was operating a logging tram road and a mill north of Hawkins and west of Rhonesboro in 1906. The American Lumberman reported that the George W. Fouke Lumber Company authorized capital of $250,000 in 1908. Partners are George W. Fouke, F. J. Fouke, and T. P. West. The mill was listed as cutting 50,000 feet daily of pine yardstock and dimension in 1915 at Hawkins. |
