Historicial Development: | The Wood County Lumber Company was advertised for sale in The Gulf Coast Lumberman issue of November 15, 1956. Equipment included a “Sawmill complete with conveyor chain, fan, blowpipe, power unit.” The company was listed the following year in Nelson Samson's Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas. According to Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1956-1958, the company was established in 1936, J. J. Puckett was managing the operation, and more than ten workers were employed at the plant. |
