Historicial Development: | Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association, January 1905 listed this mill at Hawkins. According to "This Everlasting Sand Bed": Cultural Resources Investigations at the Texas Big Sandy Project, Wood and Upshur Counties, Texas, the sawmill was located several miles north of Hawkins. Its first owner was R. W. Lindley. Later, H. D. Lindley, F. A. Baird and finally, L. A. Bryan owned the mill. The mill closed in 1919. |
