Historicial Development: The Dean Lumber Company grew from less than twenty-five employees in the late 1950s to more than eighty by the 1990s. In 1973, the output was six million board feet, from elm, gum, oak, and slash pine. The plant manufactured more than 23,000,000 board feet in 1993, working with shortleaf pine. The wood treating plant can process 125,000 board feet daily. In 1993, some of the equipment included a circular saw, a gang saw, a chipping headrig, two debarkers, a board edger, a resaw, two trimmers, and three dry kilns. Bob Curries' article in Texas Logger in 1993 revealed that Dean Lumber was receiving its pine sawlogs from Robertson Logging of Ore City.
