Historicial Development: Ben Wilson had leased earlier a sawmill site to McKnight & Son in Upshur County. The mill site was located about nine miles northwest of Gilmer. H. W. Stracener and J. L. Barr later operated the mill. Sometime before 1907, according to Upshur County records, Stracener became bankrupt and T. H. Briggs acquired Stracener's property. In 1906 C. F. Waller was living at the mill site and owned the plant. He sold it that year to W. E. Crosby.
