Historicial Development: | Alexander Young of Warren, Pennsylvania, followed construction of the Sabine and East Texas railroad north out of Beaumont and founded in south-central Tyler County the sawmill establishment known as the Warren Land and Lumber Company in 1882. By 1884, he was running sawmills at both Warren and Woodville. The sawmill at Woodville manufactured undressed lumber, which would have then been shipped to the Young mill at Warren for planing. Young sold the Warren mill to J. I. Campbell in 1897. The demise of Young's mill operations in Woodville is not known, but a Galveston 1897 article mentions the A. J. Hodges mill. |
