Historicial Development: The earliest record of Hall Lumber Company has been found in the Walker County registers. In September, 1926, Hall Lumber mortgaged some of its sawmill property, located “300 yards south of the International & Great Northern depot in New Waverly on 10 acres leased from W. T. Slott for a sawmill site.” Hall Lumber Company was listed by trade publications as a manufacturer of shortleaf yellow pine and sycamore located at Huntsville during the 1920s and 1930s. It had a daily cutting capacity of about 12,000 feet. The company offices were probably at Huntsville while the mill operated at New Waverly.
