Historicial Development: | Smith County records note that the LaRoe Brothers bought a sawmill in 1912 from Erwin & Hamilton, located about eight miles west of Kilgore. In January, 1916, the company received a release from Erwin & Hamilton on twenty-six acres bought from Tom Jordan in 1907. Two years later, LaRoe Brothers were buying land in the county.
