Historicial Development: | R. L. Commander bought a sawmill from C. L. Dennard of Garrison and mortgaged it, in 1923, with B. B. Latimer for $500. The sawmill data base does not reveal that Dennard actually ran a sawmill at Garrison. The following August, Commander mortgaged 250 7-inch by 10-inch oak crossties and 100 ties 7-inch by 8-inch at his mill, located at Smith Switch at Urbana. His mill was located three miles east of Urbana. |
