Historicial Development: | Shipp and Brown were neighbors in Timpson, Texas, and were enumerated in the 1910 census at residences 82 and 87, Precinct 7, in Timpson. They apparently were partners in 1905, although only R. S. Shipp is listed in the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association as a sawmiller in Timpson. Either Shipp had a mill in Timpson or they were setting shop up at Stockman.
That same year, they mortgaged $7988 to Dilley & Son for one Dixie single circular sawmill, friction feed works, five sets of 10-inch trucks, two Dixie #2 head blocks, one 52-inch circular saw, and a cutoff saw. On February 7, 1906, they mortgaged for an Ames steam engine, and a boiler. In March 1906, they mortgaged $1,100 to Hall & Brown for a planer-matcher with all knives. In December 1909, they mortgaged for $3,000 to Shreveport Lumber Company a boiler, an engine, a planer-matcher, and a sawmill complete. |
