Historicial Development: According to the Census of 1870, the Plemons (handwriting on the manuscript is almost illegible) mill employed four men and two children for six months at a total wage of $400. Capitalized at $4,500 in the saw mill and $500 in the grist mill, the operation manufactured 150,000 feet of pine lumber at a value of $1,850 and ground 600 bushels of corn at a value of $660. Raw materials included 600 bushels of grain at $600 and $750 in pine logs.
