Historicial Development: | J. Jeffries, Jr.'s sawmill appeared in the 1957 edition of Nelson T. Samson's Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas. By 1959, Jeffries owed money to the State of Texas, which took a lien on his sawmill. Drayton Speights, life-long resident and lumberman of Sabine County, recalled the mill had about a 30,000-feet capacity.
