Historicial Development: | William Carroll is listed in the 1910 Census in San Augustine as a “miller, sawmill,” at Precinct 1, residence. 139. Whether he owned or worked in a sawmill is not clear. He may be the H. W. Carroll, who with C. H. Carroll, bought a complete sawmill rig with a carriage and edger in 1921 for $500 located on a Dr. Mitchell's farm in San Augustine County in 1921.
A local newspaper of Nacogdoches mentioned in 1901 that Frank Blount had come in from San Augustine with teams and wagons to move new machinery for Dr. Mitchell's sawmill, which will be located near Denning. |
