Historicial Development: The Commercial Lumber Company at San Augustine appeared in the 1957 edition of Nelson T. Samson's Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas. In 1958, it mortgaged its sawmill and planing mill equipment for $11,500. The Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1956-1958 reported that the company had been founded in 1955 with Thomas Castle as president. Kennard Lumber Company, of Kennard, Houston County, sold four GMC and Chevrolet trucks and tractors and four log trailers for $6,889 to Commercial Lumber Company on 3 January 1958.
