Historicial Development: T. L. Bobbitt, in an oral interview with Vernon L. Beasley, noted that a “Born's” water-powered sawmill operated for a few years around 1900 next to Bobbitt Creek, about eight miles south of San Augustine. This is probably a secondary mill to the “Boren's Mill” mentioned in a Quit Claim Deed of 1871 filed in San Augustine County.
