Historicial Development: | The major mill of the Whiteman-Decker Lumber Company was located at Caro, about seventeen miles south of Mt. Enterprise, in Nacogdoches County. The Caro Northern, the company steam logging tram road, connected the two communities. A company commissary and a lumber yard were situated at Mt. Enterprise, according to Nacogdoches County records. An article in the Southern Industrial and Lumber Review in 1907 mentioned the Caro Northern connecting Caro with Mt. Enterprise as well as a company planing mill. |
