Historicial Development: R. H. Yarbrough in 1911, R. H. Yarbrough of San Augustine contracted with A. A. Haaksma and wife to log all the pine timber on 420 acres belonging to Haaksma. Yarbrough had to build a mill to manufacture the sawtimber on Haaksma's land. Haaksma would receive $1.50 per every thousand feet of sawtimber. In 1906 R. H. Yarbrough mortgaged to Geo. R. Dilley of Palestine a 10-inch by 12-inch steam engine, a 44-inch boiler, a Curtis Dixie E sawmill, a Curtis 3-saw edger, a #2 swing saw, and two 56-inch circular saws. He was listed in the San Augustine County tax rolls, 1907 and 1908. R. H. Yarbrough mortgaged to San Augustine Grocery for $550 a 12-foot by 48-inch Adams boiler, an 11-inch by 14-inch Adams steam engine, a Curtis sawmill and carriage, a 40-inch Curtis edger, a batting saw, four lumber buggies, and two circular saws.
