Historicial Development: | Dalaham logged cypress from the forests and floated them down the Trinity to the gulf. He created a “circle boom” by placing loose logs in a circle and chaining the outer logs together. Because floating the boom took considerable time, the danger of the cypress pulp wearing out was always existent. This happened once in the gulf, “and the logs floated in every direction to Galveston. Hundreds of logs were afterwards found on Galveston Bay, . .”. |
