Historicial Development: W. H. Patterson operated a sawmill and planing mill in Panola County. In 1907, according to Panola County records, Patterson contracted to sell “dressed” [lumber] from the mill and deliver it S. J. Fuller (of Marlowe) at Carthage. The price was $12 per thousand feet for assorted lengths totaling 300,000 feet. He mortgaged for a sawmill with First National Bank at Carthage in 1908. The mortgage was canceled on January 16, 1911.
