Historicial Development: | F. M. Harris & Sons mortgaged for a steam engine from A. Palmore, as Trustee, on January 22, 1907, in Panola County. They may have used it for sawmilling. Palmore, however, had given a mortgage on a complete sawmill the same day to F. Vansickle.
Lee C. Pruitt had several sawmill businesses in Panola County during the early 1900s. One of them was a relationship with the Virgin Lumber Company. On September 28, 1908, with First National Bank, he mortgaged for $1,900 his entire interest in lumber manufactured by Virgin Lumber and the Harris sawmill, the latter located twelve miles from Beckville.
This sawmill was probably that of F. M Harris & Son, for the N. S. Harris sawmill was mortgaged to J. W. Goode and W. S. Chadwick in October, 1908. |
