Historicial Development: A. Alsup was a farmer, sawmiller, and cotton ginner in Panola County in the early 1900s. On October 1, 1906, Alsup bought another sawmill in Panola County when he filed a chattel lien mortgage from A. B. Palmore, trustee, for a center-crank 10”x12” Erie City steam engine and a complete mill with all fixtures and appurtenances. Within a month, Alsup had taken N. F. House as partner in at least the sawmilling business. They mortgaged the sawmill for $1,000 to I. F. Thompson. Alsup was not listed in the 1905 or 1907 LCA rating books.
