Historicial Development: | The Southern Lumberman in September 1908 noted that the Southern Manufacturing & Lumber Company at Newton had been placed in the receivership. The Southern Industrial and Lumber Review reported in October 1908 that the Southern Lumber and Manufacturing Company owned a mill and timber land in Newton County valued at $15,000. The company was being sued by a creditor to appoint a receiver for the company. It may have been the Southern Lumber Company at Ruliff, which had apparently bought out Barber Lumber Company's mill at Ruliff in 1907. See Southern Lumber Company at Ruliff. |
