Historicial Development: | G. W. Long was described by a local newspaper in 1903 as “ a preminent [sic] mill and gin man of Trawick, . .”. By 1907, J. H. Crenshaw and long had a sawmill in 1907 located about three miles southwest of Dalmont Station. That year they contracted to manufacture lumber for the Southern Mills Company. The following year Long, for a consideration of $1.00, transferred to Southern Mills Company timber on land belonging to N. E. Beavers, Byrd, Lee, Crisp, Bradshaw, and all others for “whom I have timber deeds or verbal agreements for timber.” The land was located five and one-half miles south of Dalmont Station. He also sold his portable 20-horsepower Fairbanks Morse gasoline engine to Southern Mills Company on 25 August 1908.
