| Historicial Development: | In 1906, the American Lumberman noted that it had ten miles of logging railroad, with its headquarters at Decoy. The LaNana Lumber Company is listed in the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association, January 1907.
The Nacogdoches newspaper reported in February 1910 “Peter Piper, a well know negro and who had been with the Lanana Lumber Company for the past three years, was instantly killed this morning at 8:30 o'clock, at Lanana.” The man was attempting to jump from one railroad flat car to another when he fell between the two cars and the railroad car ran over his head killing him instantly. Engineer Hazel, train number two, tried to stop his train as quickly as possible, but was too late to save the man. The paper reports that he was “one of the best known negores, and the oldest employees, around the mill.”
