Historicial Development: In October 1896, the Jeanes family bought 1,000 acres from A. F. and F. J. (wife) Kinsey, located on Pelost Creek about two and a half miles west of Chireno. They farmed their land and also constructed a steam-powered sawmill plant. The Jeanes sold the land in 1899 and moved the sawmill southwest to the tracks of the Texas & New Orleans.
