Historicial Development: | F. G. Nalrand, according to the Census of 1880, owned and operated a sawmill of a d value of $2,500 in Harrison County. The mill employed twenty men at peak production and ten normally. They earned from $1.25 to $3.00 per day depending on their level of skill and worked eight-hour shifts winter and ten-hour shifts in the summer. Nalrand paid $1,500 in total wages. The mill, in two months, manufactured 600,000 to 860,000 feet of lumber worth $8,100 from $3,600 worth of sawlogs and supplies.
