Historicial Development: | Southern Pine and Cypress Company was a Houston-based business with mills at Willis, Montgomery County; Houston, Harris County; Baldwin, Polk County; and New Waverly, Walker County. The only Willis mill that appears in a 1906 listing of sawmills is S.N. Beard's. Texas Lumber Company bought the Southern Pine & Cypress Company in May 1906 and moved the company office and the lumber mill to Conroe by 1907.
