Historicial Development: | O. P. Perkins had a complete sawmill at Mostyn, including engines and boilers, secured for him by Peter E. and J. L. Josserand on a deed of trust and three notes. The Josserands defaulted, and T. E. Dean, acting for the lien holder, sold the Mostyn mill to S. E. Barnes of Trinity. Barnes may have been acting as an agent for the Josserands.
In 1910, Webb describes Mostyn “as a community in southwestern Montgomery County . . . [with] a station on the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railroad in the early 1900's and in 1910 had a sawmill and a post office operated in the K. P. Edwards store. Population in 1910 was fifty. After 1915 the post office was discontinued and mail was sent to Montgomery.” |
