Historicial Development: | The Lufkin Daily News reported in 1943 that McDonald Lumber Company had bought the West End Lumber Company at New Caney that year. The firm had been operating at New Caney since 1928. Burton McDonald, the elder McDonald's son and eventual successor to his father's company at Kirbyville, was one of the three owners.
Elijah Ernest McDonald, according to The Jacksonville Journal in 1947, began his sawmilling career at Rebecca in 1908. |
