Historicial Development: | M. R. Talley's sawmill at Conroe, the entry listing for Grand Lake, appeared in the January 1905 Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association. On April 25, 1905, M. R. Talley agreed to sell entire cut of his sawmill and planing mill to J. C. Hill Lumber Company of Houston. Hill would advance $5 per K-ft to Talley to retain right to sell in less than carload-lots to local trade. Prices ranged from $9 to $13.50. Contract would be in force for one year from April 25, 1905. Talley was producing 15,000 feet daily in 1906.
The mill was still listed in the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association, January 1907. |
