Historicial Development: The Beakley sawmill of J. R. Beakley and E. E. Beakley was located adjacent to the tracks of the Conroe, Byspot & Northern tram railway, about five miles east of Conroe. The tramway was, at that time, the logging railroad for Delta Land & Timber Company at Conroe, Texas. In September, 1920, the Beakleys sold their mill to J. F. Cox and F. W. Baker for $1,400, with the mortgage registered in the San Jacinto County records. The equipment mortgaged included the sawmill, tools, boilers, and engines.
