| Historicial Development: | The Honea Lumber Company sawed timber and milled lumber for a few years at Leonidas, also known at times as Arnold's Switch. The little community was located about five miles west of Conroe, adjacent to the tracks of the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe. According to W. T. Block, of Nederland, the Honea Lumber Company, G. W. Gwin the owner, sold a boiler in August, 1910, to G. W. Horton. In 1915, the Galloways owned the sawmill. That July, the Galloways brokered 75,000 feet of lumber to a noted Conroe merchant and lumber factor, John Wahrenberger. |
