Historicial Development: | The Harrison Flag announced on July 10, 1858, that “Cheap Lumber-A Chance for All to Build” was available at the Adkins and Taylor sawmill two miles west of Marshall. The proprietors would accept besides stated prices “anything valued or produced on a plantation. . . from a hen egg to an ox or his hide and tallow.” Every Saturday they would grind corn, or at anytime if at least ten bushels were brought in. |
