Historicial Development: | Marion County Deeds of Trust reveal that Tobias B. Borst acquired the George W. Keene sawmill site, located about two miles southeast of Jefferson. Property transferred included steam machinery, twenty-two yoke of oxen, three log wagons, and six ox wagons. Borst mortgaged some of the oxen to L. A. and W. H. Johnson in 1870. The lumber yard was located in Jefferson on lots 4, 5, and 6 of Block 21. |
