Two of the Wurtsbaughs operated what is known as the Little Cypress Lumber Company on land owned by Jonathan G. Bemis in 1907. It had a sawmill and planing mill, according to Marion County records in 1907. That year, Little Cypress Lumber Company agreed to supply its sawmill cut to Burton-Lingo Company. The M. H. Wurtsbaugh lumber mill was listed at Jefferson in 1928. It was cutting 20,000 feet of lumber daily and had a commissary and logging tram road. |
