Historicial Development: | In 1903, Hooper Singleton Lumber Company held a mortgage for the Pine Tree Lumber Company of Panola County on a sawmill operation. Pine Tree may have been cutting lumber on contract for the Jefferson sawmill firm. Hooper Singleton Lumber Company was manufacturing pine lumber and cypress shingles at Jefferson, according to the 1905 and 1907 editions of the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association. The Singleton Lumber Company succeeded the Hooper Singleton firm in 1908 and was included in a list of Texas manufacturers of lumber in the July 1909 issue of the Southern Industrial and Lumber Review. |
