Historicial Development: T. L. L. Temple began sawmilling at Wayne in October, 1882, when he bought the C. C. Galloway lumber plant there for $2,000. The American Lumberman incorrectly places the date a year earlier. Temple soon took W. A. Scott in as a partner. The mill was sold to Thomas J. Henderson and James Hinkle in 1892. Scott and Temple opened the Atlanta Lumber Mills with Grigsby in 1888 at Atlanta. Scott and Temple, in conjunction with Grigsby and Queen City, jointly operated a steam logging tram road in the eastern part of Cass County during the latter 1880s. Temple still used animals for at least skidding, for he bought seven yokes of oxen from Henderson & King in 1887. The mill was located three miles east of Wayne Station on the land of one Elihu Stevenson.
