Historicial Development: The community of Cass was established in northeastern Cass County in 1894 when the tracks of the Kansas City Southern were laid in the area. A sawmill firm, possibly that of Davis & Davis, established a plant there about that time. In 1900, the firm of Davis and Dave Tilson bought out Davis & Davis. The sawmill ran until 1910 and closed when the timber was cut out.
