Historicial Development: | G. J. Maxwell, according to The Jacksonville Journal in 1947, had been sawmilling since 1917 at various places, including Old London, Jacksonville, and Gallatin. He located at Jacksonville in 1937. This small operation normally employed less than twenty-five workers. In 1947, Maxwell's cut was contracted to Holt Lumber Company at Rusk.
The company was listed in the Samson editions of 1957 and 1966.
